Usain Bolt Documentary Announced

29th April 2015 – Usain’s preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and his retirement in 2017 will be made into a feature length documentary by British filmmakers Fulwell 73.   The film, set for theatrical release, will also look back at his career and feature some of the people who helped him become a world superstar.

Fulwell’s previous work included the hit 2013 film ‘Class of ’92’ which followed David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Phil Nevill and Gary Nevill as they became Manchester United legends.  The Usain Bolt film will be directed by brothers Ben and Gabe Turner who have also worked with One Direction.  Executive producers include Ricky Simms, Nugent Walker and the Doyen Group who will fund the project.

“I’m excited to start work on this project,” Bolt said. “When I met Gabe and Ben and heard about their previous work I felt they would be the right people to tell my story and capture my journey to Rio 2016. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

“Ben and I had a real interest in looking at the life of an athlete competing in an individual sport,” said Gabe Turner. “When the opportunity arose to do so with the greatest athlete of all time, we leapt at the chance. Usain’s journey over this next year and what he achieves in Rio, will define his legacy and redefine what is possible in his sport. We cannot wait to be with him every step of the way.”

Usain’s 2012 documentary ‘Usain Bolt: The Fastest Man Alive’ was broadcast around the world and is available on DVD and download.
