Usain clocks fastest ever relay split of 8.65 secs

2nd May 2015 – The Jamaica – USA 4x100m rivalry continued at the IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas with USA overturning a seven year Jamaican winning streak to come out on top in a fast 37.36 secs.   Usain anchored a Jamaican quartet of Nesta Carter, Kemar Bailey-Cole and Nichael Ashmeade to silver in 37.68 secs.  There was some individual consolation for Usain as his final 100m split was timed at 8.65 secs which is the fastest ever recorded in a relay.  Asafa Powell had previously clocked 8.68 secs at the 2012 Olympic Games in Beijing while Usain’s best time was 8.70 secs at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Bolt better stop all the promotion events and concentrate on the 100 and 200 because Justin Gatlin is running like a man on “something” perhaps he has been eating his Wheaties. LOL

Usain – My heartiest congratulations on that emphatic 100m win at the IAAF World Championship in Beijing. This is a triumph for track and field and the stuff that legends are made of. Much respect. [Caribbean Sports Journal] @caribsport

This time is amazing, had I been aware of this last week, I wouldn’t have been so nervous about the World Championships. However, someone needs to fire the writer. Who is Assad Powell? “was timing at”? And how exactly were the 2012 Olympic Games held in Beijing? You can’t have such shoddy reporting on the official website of the greatest sprinter ever born

Assad Powell is Colin Powell’s grandson by Syria’s president’s father’s daughter.
