Usain Bolt for the very first time in Poland
The fastest man on earth Usain Bolt confirmed another date for the second part of the season. The 100 m and 200 m Olympic and World multiple gold medalist and World record holder will compete at the 5th edition of LOTTO Kamila Skolimowska’s Memorial on August 23, 2014. The Jamaican legend has never competed in Poland before. The meeting is held since 2009 to remember Kamila Skolimowska, Polish athlete and Olympic hammer champion from Sydney 2000.
“I’m looking forward to running in Poland for the first time. I have never raced in a football stadium before so that will be something new and unique. I like to support new events and help grow the sport all over the world,” said Bolt.
This edition will take place on National Stadium in Warsaw with impressive capacity of 58 500 seats on which the special completely new track (straight) will be built. As always many home athletes will be competing: Tomasz Majewski, Anita Włodarczyk, Piotr Małachowski and Paweł Fajdek will face foreign top sportsmen. It is worth to mention that 14 medalists from Moscow World Championships and 12 medalists from London Olympics took part in last two years. This years edition will have sprints on the straight and jumping and throwing events.
The Memorial is organized by Kamila Skolimowska’s Fundation, which helps athletes to recover from serious injuries.
