USAIN BOLT FOUNDATION GIVES BACK MILLIONS TO RURAL SCHOOLS TO PREPARE FOR ISSA CHAMPS 2025

Kingston, Jamaica – March 18, 2025: The Usain Bolt Foundation has reaffirmed its

commitment to youth development and athletics by donating a total of J$6.1 million in

cash and kind to six rural high schools to support their preparation for the ISSA Boys

and Girls Athletics Championships (Champs) 2025.

Through his long-time partnership with PUMA, Bolt will provide spikes to support young

high school athletes. While some schools will receive direct financial assistance, others

will benefit from in-kind contributions, ensuring that as many student-athletes as

possible have the resources they need to compete at Champs.

The schools benefitting from this initiative are:

• William Knibb Memorial High School

• Green Island High School

• Maggotty High School

• New Forest High School

• Sydney Pagon High School

  • Lacovia High School

This donation will assist in covering essential expenses such as housing, food, and

transportation for the student-athletes as they prepare for the highly competitive national

championship.

Since becoming a professional athlete, Ambassador Dr. The Hon. Usain St. Leo Bolt

has consistently given back to his alma mater, William Knibb Memorial High School.

Additionally through his partnership with PUMA, the school’s track program also

receives millions in gear and equipment annually. This year, Bolt has expanded his

contributions through his foundation in the area of track and field to include five

additional schools, ensuring that more young athletes from rural Jamaica receive the

support they need to excel.

Speaking on the initiative, Bolt expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to give

back:

“Being able to support not just my school, but also other schools and young athletes

through my foundation, is something I do not take for granted. I know firsthand what

track and field has done for my life, and I hope that through this initiative, we can help

change the lives of these students young athletes in a positive way.”

Not withstanding challenges, this latest act of generosity continues Bolt’s legacy of

using his global platform to uplift Jamaican youth and ensure that the next generation of

athletes has the resources to achieve their full potential. Bolt through his Foundation,

remains dedicated to supporting young student athletes and fostering sports

development in Jamaica as long as possible.
