Oslo – 9.79 Seconds

Usain Bolt clocked 9.79 seconds to win in Oslo on Thursday, June 7 over countryman, Asafa Powell, who was 2nd in 9.85. Bolt erased the old Meeting Record mark of 9.88 held by Ato Boldon back in 1988. Lerone Clarke ran 10.10 seconds to finish third and complete the trifecta for Jamaica.

Of the 12 times Bolt and Powell have met at this level, Bolt has edged his countryman 11 times. Bolt was coming off a 9.76 world leading run in Rome on May 31st.

Bolt was pleased with his execution and said afterwards that he is “going home to top it up and get ready for the Jamaican trials.” The Jamaican trials and championships are set for June 28 to July 1 in Kingston.
