14th May 2016 – Usain opened his 2016 T&F season with a win in the 100m at the Cayman Invitational in a time of 10.05 secs. Speaking after the race he told reporters – “I’m just glad I got out of that one injury-free. In a season-opener, you never know what to expect. My coach can analyse the race, see what we need to do, see what we need to work on, then move from there. It didn’t feel as smooth, but that was expected because it’s my first race. I expected to be rusty. Once I get a few more races under my belt, by (Olympic) trials time I’ll be ready.” Next stop Ostrava.
